Therapy With Erica: Social Stories and more

Earlier this month, we sat down with Erica Zisman, a licensed children’s therapist with a Master’s degree in Social Work. Through her emerging virtual work, Erica brings real support to families, children, and adults of all ages and numerous psychological and emotional needs.

We had the wonderful opportunity of chatting with Erica in our Instagram Live. Check out our critical conversation on consent, body rights, and setting boundaries in early childhood. We’d love to hear your thoughts and experience on this important topic.

After our conversation, Erica and I collaborated to write a helpful guide for families, teachers, and therapists on Social Stories.

Social Stories are a learning tool that support communication, positive behavior, and safety in children. They are short stories that are written to help children address a specific challenge or adverse behavior.

We co-wrote this practical guide to help you write your first Social Story. You can download the free PDF guide here at our Allusio Academy services page. Our helpful guide includes:

  • an introduction to Social Stories

  • step-by-step instructions on how to: a) identify adverse behaviors, b) set goals, and c) plan your Social Story

  • tips on writing your Social Story in positive and effective language

  • strategies to implement your Social Story at home and share it with your child.

Download the free digital guide, and let us know how it helps you. If you are looking for a bit of one-on-one, tailored guidance, please reach out for a consultation with myself at Allusio Academy or with Erica at Therapy With Erica.
